Re: Rice is not going anywhere.
Zico - you are right re Soucek, seen many mentions of interest particularly in Germany, £50m mentioned. If we have any hope of making the 'big time' then we must keep Rice and Soucek and strengthen the side not tear it apart. Soucek has said he is very happy with Moyes and the Hammers, perhaps he could recommend a couple more Czech players because the two signings we have made are great!

Re: Rice is not going anywhere.
January, very unlikely. Summer 2021, probably off. Surely we all know that.

Unless we get CL football and win/get close to a cup. He's already said he wants trophies. He IS too good for us and a fan of his main suitors. Shit reality of modern football.

Just hope Moyes is capable of winning recruitment with £80m to burn.

Re: Rice is not going anywhere.
I'm worried about a double whammy because I'm fairly certain Clubs are taking notice of Soucek as well. To lose one would be bad enough but both a disaster,

Block, it's the 'very few clubs' that he would join surely? The step up and all that.....

Money, Sven.

Our BUSINESSMEN chairman love a pound note.

He ain’t going in January. And I reckon a decision won’t be made until after next summer Euro’s. The rest is just noise.

Re: Rice is not going anywhere.
It’s 2024 he is contracted til isn’t it?
He will sign a new deal as it will give him a pay rise
Why on earth would we put in a buyout that someone can trigger?

Block 3:09 Fri Dec 18
Re: Rice is not going anywhere.
People are forgetting the times we're in, few very clubs can afford to pay the money for him.

I reckon he'll sign a new deal but have a release clause somewhere between £80-100m.

Sven Roeder 2:57 Fri Dec 18
Re: Rice is not going anywhere.
They paid £80m for Harry Maguire.
On that scale the bidding for Rice starts at about £240m.
I think we all expect Rice to leave at some point. Going to Man U or Chelsea both of whom have mediocrities as managers isn’t in his interests.

can imagine the mancs throwing nosebleed money at the spivs upstairs in january just to head frank off at the pass.

given our relative safety i can see them accepting it too. whether dec will want to go there is another matter.

I'd rather see him go Manchester red than Chelsea.

Re: Rice is not going anywhere.
I would like Rice to take the outlook that Chelsea are his 'family' home where he grew up and made friends, BUT THEY CHUCKED HIM OUT AT A YOUNG AGE WITH NO WHERE TO GO.

West Ham is his home he's got through hard work and dedication to prove his family wrong and it fucking loves him so don't look backwards you cunt they had their chance so they can fuck off even if it is a Russian mansion.

All of the above won't make a jot of a difference to his choices though..... :-)

Re: Rice is not going anywhere.
Rice money will not be invested fully.

It will be used to service debts.

At May 2019 we owed £87 million in transfer fees. Approximately half due in one year, the rest there after.

Plus who ever we've purchased since, we have to pay for.

Lee Trundle 1:13 Fri Dec 18
Re: Rice is not going anywhere.
I'm not so sure we'll see many massive transfer fees post covid for a while. I'd be surprised if it's closer to £100m rather than closer to £50m if he's sold next summer.

Sir Alf 1:05 Fri Dec 18
Re: Rice is not going anywhere.
I fully expect the 100 million not to be fully spent on players/transfers as has been the case in the last few windows since the one time "Pellegrini Scatter Gun" window.

Diangana / Hugill / Ajeti fees incoming 25 million + and installment of Diangana reportedly largely paid upfront.

Sullivan and club "we will fully reinvest the sales in new players".

Investments = Coufal £8million = 2 ,million fee paid
Benrahma = £4.5 million fee

Some will claim but what about Soucek. Well he was part of the previous season and besides we go £120 million TV money installment in Sept/Oct.

Rice money will not be invested fully and if Sullivan is still influencing policy it will be yet another "razzle dazzle" player not what we need.

Will be amazed if we keep him beyond next summer.

Dont sell in Jan. Wait until the summer when COVID is behind us. His price is only going up.

I fully expect Sullivan to spend the 100 million terribly.

Man Utd sniffing round Rice now according to the Express

He is definitely one of the best midfield players in Europe all depends on if he wants to move or S&G want to pocket the money if it's the later then I can see a lot of angry fans not renewing their season tickets.

Kaiser Zoso 12:36 Fri Dec 18
Re: Rice is not going anywhere.
Big Fat Frankie should be more concerned about the two centre halves, and the keeper isn't too shit hot either, although he is an improvement on the div who embarrassed the manager by refusing to leave the field when he was going to be substituted.

Lee Trundle 12:23 Fri Dec 18
Re: Rice is not going anywhere.
I'd be surprised if Lampard has much say on who he brings in, which is the worrying part of it all if they are interested. Even if he's sacked, I reckon they'd still be looking at him.

If he wants to win trophies and let's face it that's not going to happen here.
Enjoy him whilst we can because sooner or later he'll be off.

Vexed 2:35 Thu Dec 17

Sorry Vexed but he is in the mix for sure. The bigger the club, the better the players are around you and the better you're going to look. Imagine how good he'd look playing for Bayern ... Not that I am advocating he moves anywhere of course (but if he did I'd rather he went abroad).
